The Long Thanh International Airport ( Vietnamese: san bay Quốc Te Long Thành ) is a proposed major airport in Vietnam. It is 40 kilometers northeast of the South Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh City, Long Thanh district built in Dong Nai province.
The plan
The development plan of the Long Thanh International Airport was approved in 2006 by the Prime Minister Phan Van Khai.
The plans provide for a completion from 2020 (with two start and runways ) and a subsequent gradual expansion. After completion of the first phase of construction, which is scheduled for 2015-2020, it will have a capacity of 25 million passengers per year. In the final stage (2020 or later), capacity will reach 50-100 million passengers per year.
The airport will be equipped in the final stage four, the 4000 -meter start and runways, five terminals and several cargo terminals. It will cover an area of 50 km ². The total cost estimate for the new airport is approximately eight billion U.S. dollars (about 5.8 billion euros ), financed by the government investment budget and from private and foreign investors.
Simultaneously with the airport being built to open up highways and railways.
