They are similar to findings from the approximately 300 kilometers away Malu Cave ( Maludong, translated: Deer Cave), which is researched since 1989 and is located near the town of Menzi; here, among others, a partially preserved skull, mandible fragments and individual teeth were recovered, the calibrated calendar years before present are old 14500-13000. The morphological characteristics of the finds are quite different from the characteristics of the population now living in China, however, they resemble much older African fossils. Therefore, they were assigned Although modern humans (Homo sapiens ), but they belong possibly to a separate, living at both localities grouping of immigrants from Africa who settled in the region earlier and separated from the direct ancestors of today's Chinese.

Based on one of the localities, the population was referred to as "Red Deer Cave people" ( people from the Deer Cave).
