Longomontanus (crater)

Longomontanus is an old, heavily eroded crater in the southern highlands southwest of the famous Tycho crater.

The crater has a diameter of about 160 km. Its inner surface is almost flat, but the crater rims are badly eroded.

The crater was founded in 1935 by the IAU by the Danish astronomer and mathematician Christian Severin ( Latinized Longomontanus ) officially named.
