Longuyon

Longuyon is a commune with 5559 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Briey and is capital of the canton Longuyon.

Geography

The small town Longuyon is in the northwest of the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle on the border of Meuse, near the border triangle France -Belgium- Luxembourg. In Longuyon the Crusnes opens into the Chiers, a tributary of the River Meuse.

History

The town was largely destroyed during World War II by German troops.

More partnerships with Zary in Poland since 1999 with Tizi Rached in Algeria since 1980 with Pirna in Saxony, which was officially renewed after 1989 on 20 June 1998.
