Lonya Chico District

The district Lonya Chico is one of the 23 Peruvian districts, which form the province of Luya.

Lonya Chico is bordered to the north by the district Luya, in the southeast of the province of Chachapoyas, in the south to the district Inguilpata, on the west by the district Ocallí and to the northwest by the district Conila ( Luya ).

The district was officially founded on 5 February 1861, and currently has a population of about 1,140 inhabitants. District capital is the village of Lonya Chico. The village feast is celebrated on the day of the holy Luzia, August 15. Lonya Chico covers an area of about 84 km ².
