Look-down/shoot-down

As Look-down/shoot-down Capability (or low vision capability ) is the ability of an active radar in military aircraft to be able to capture contacts and below the own altitude. The signal processing makes use of the Doppler effect, so that the radar is capable of the radar echoes of moving objects to stand out (preferably other aircraft ) generated by reflection of radar ground echo.

Often the radar by the pilot is accordingly configurable, as it naturally is a relationship between the update frequency and the size of the emission cone. A larger cone take longer to be completely scanned and vice versa.
