Looking Glass servers

A Looking Glass is a tool on the internet to obtain information about transmission routes.

In Internet routing information is transmitted with a routing protocol. This protocol is the Border Gateway Protocol ( BGP). This routing protocol, the Internet in so-called autonomous systems is divided (AS) and exchange instead of information about each computer on the Internet, only information about these autonomous systems be transferred.

Will you now look at this information, it can be a software tool called Looking Glass ( literally mirror ) use. This software consists mostly of a collection of scripts ( eg, Perl scripts ) that run on a computer with a web front-end through which then commands (such as ping, traceroute, BGP commands, etc.) with appropriate parameters can be sent to the router in the Internet. The results are also shown by the web frontend and serve as the troubleshooting routing problems.
