Looming (journal)

Looming ( German for "creation" ) is the oldest and most important literary magazine of Estonia.

Literary magazine

Looming in 1923 launched by the Estonian writer and literary peace Tuglas always. Their purpose was the publication and popularization of Estonian contemporary literature. At Looming wrote virtually all known Estonian authors.

During the Soviet occupation of Estonia Looming was the Hauptorgang the " Writers' Union of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic."

Today, the publication of Looming by the Estonian Ministry of Culture, the State Foundation Eesti Kultuurkapital and the Estonian Writers' Union is financially supported. The latter determines the chief editor of the magazine, who is responsible for what the content of Looming.

Looming appears twelve times a year. The editorial team has its headquarters in Tallinn.

Trivia

In the number of the magazine 1000th (12 /2012, pp. 1707-1715 ) published the Estonian writer Andrus Kivirähk the narrative sauna day ( Saunapäev ), in which he can take a bath together in the sauna almost all editors.
