Loop Management System

Automatic switching matrix also automatic switching manifold, Loop Management System ( LMS), automated distribution frame or automated distribution main frame, is a technical solution for the connection of copper pairs in the telecommunication infrastructure.

Traditionally, the compounds ( n inputs to m outputs) of copper pairs from on-site technicians manually using a jumper wire (2 twisted wires ) in case of need be connected (configured) or dissolved.

The automatic switching matrix allows, after a single initial wiring of all inputs and outputs, the remote controlled switching or dissolving the compounds.

The advantages of automatic switching matrix are reduced cost, reduced error sources in the design and documentation, reduce operational costs, and personnel savings.

Field trials have been successfully completed, but a broad industrial implementation did not take place (as of 2009)
