Loopealse

Loopealse ( German for " Alvar [ area] " ) is a district (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. It is located in Lasnamäe district ( German " Laaksberg ").

Description

The municipality has 2,048 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010).

The town still dominate prefabricated high-rise buildings in the Soviet style. In addition, numerous five -to eight- storey new buildings are currently being built in Loopealse. The place offers a perfect location in a limestone mountain a good view of the Baltic Sea.

In Loopealse built around the 1,800 m² " space Patriarch Alexius II " ( Patriarh Aleksius II väljak ) one of the largest Orthodox churches newbuildings Estonia. Alexius II (1929-2008) was from 1990 until his death Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, and thus head of the Russian Orthodox Church. He came from Tallinn.
