Lopare

Lopare (Cyrillic Лопаре ) is a village and associated community in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated 18 km north-east of Tuzla, and is part of the Republika Srpska. With the Treaty of Dayton the northwestern part of the municipality was separated by the entities limit of Lopare and has since formed the community Čelić in the Federation.

Geography

The municipality is located in northeastern Bosnia Lopare between the north side of the mountain range Majevica ( 915 m) and the Posavina landscapes in the north and Semberija in the Northeast. All streams in the municipality open a few kilometers further north into the Sava.

The municipality is bordered by the Association of Municipalities Brcko in the north, Bijeljina and Ugljevik in the east, Sapna and Tuzla in the south and Čelić in the West. The limits to the latter three communities are also the innerbosnische entities border.

The municipality consists of the 18 local communities: piperidine, Bobetino Brdo, Brusnica, Jablanica, Koraj, Koretaši, Lopare, Lukavica Mačkovac, Milino Selo, Mirosavci, Mrtvica, Peljave, Pirkovci, Priboj Puškovac, Tobut and Vukosavci. The eight local communities Brnjik, Čelić, Drijenča, Humci, Ratkovici, Šibošnica, Velino Selo and Vražići form since 1995, the municipality Čelić.

Population

At the 1991 census the parish had ( with Čelić ) 32 537 inhabitants. Of these, designated as 18,243 Serbs ( 56.07 %), 11,990 as Bosniaks ( 36.85% ) and 1263 as Croats (3.88 %). 1041 villagers reported other affiliations to ( 3.2%). Without Čelić the municipality had 18,744 inhabitants, including 15,489 Serbs ( 82.63 %) and 2525 Bosniaks ( 13.47 %).

In place Lopare even then lived 2755 people. Here presented the Serbs with 2415 inhabitants ( 87.66 %), the absolute majority. 115 residents identified themselves as Bosniaks ( 4.17% ). Local communities with a Bosniak majority population were Koraj ( 94.86 %) and 6 of 8 local communities the church today Čelić. In Drijenča the Croats were in the majority ( 99%).

History

At the village of Donji Bardačilovac near Lopare a necropolis was with Late Bronze Age grave goods found.

In Bosnia war Lopare was a long time in the main battle area. The Bosnian government troops held a Muslim populated area wedge, which stretched to the Serb -held corridor of Brčko. From there, they tried to break the connection between Serbia on one side and the areas around Banja Luka and Knin on the other side. The predominantly Serb- populated municipality Lopare was located on the eastern edge of this wedge and was therefore for the VRS an important strategic position.

Sports

The largest and oldest football club in the community is the FK Majevica Lopare. It has been founded in 1933 and plays in the 2nd Division of the Republika Srpska.
