Lord of Mann

Lord of Man or Lord of Man ( Manx: Chiarn Vanninagh ) is the title of Elizabeth II, Queen of Great Britain, as Lord Proprietor and head of state of the Isle of Man.

Use of the title

The island name is written in English today with only one "n". From official page is both the spelling with an " n" and the full form with two " n" use.

Irrespective of gender, the title is now "Lord"; Queen Victoria, however, still reigned as the " Lady of Mann". The Latin title is " Dominus Manniae ".

The title is correct to not be used alone. The Lord of Mann ( and formerly king of man) is in a feudal relationship with the Crown of the United Kingdom (before 1801, Great Britain and England before 1707 ), and is sovereign only by the personal union with the British crown. The formal toast to the Isle of Man is therefore applied to the Queen, Lord of Mann.
