Lord of the Isles

The title Lord of the Isles ( Scottish Gaelic: Eilean nan Triath or Rí Innse Gall ), now a Scottish title of nobility, comes from a number of Gaelic - Scandinavian princes of the Scottish west coast and islands in the middle ages. With their galleys they dominated the Scottish seas. Although nominally at times vassals of the Norwegian king, some of the Scottish king, or by both at the same time, the island princes over the centuries were actually independent. Your territory included the Hebrides, Skye and Ross since 1438, Knoydart, Ardnamurchan, and the Kintyre peninsula. At the peak of its power, it was the largest landowner and most powerful princes in the British Isles, with the exception of the kings of England and Scotland.

Current holder of the title is the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles.
