Loreen (singer)

Loreen ( born October 16, 1983 as Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui in Stockholm) is a Swedish singer of Moroccan origin. In 2012, she won the Euro Vision Song Contest with the song Euphoria for Sweden.

Biography

Loreen was born in 1983 as the daughter of Moroccan Berber - parents in Stockholm, but grew up in Västerås. Under the name Lorén Talhaoui she participated in the first season of the talent show Idol - the Swedish equivalent of Pop Idol - in part, which was aired by the TV channel TV4 August to November 2004. She retired in the quarterfinals on November 12 as fourth-placed from the competition. After the program, she published together with Rob'n'Raz the song The Snake, not entered the Swedish charts. She also worked as a presenter for TV400, but it was then quiet for the singer. As musical role models are called Björk, Enya and Lisa Gerrard.

Loreen took at Melodifestivalen 2011, the Swedish Trials in part to the Euro Vision Song Contest. Their song My Heart Is Refusing Me was written by her, Moh Denebi and Björn Djupström. In the second semi-final on 12 February 2011 she reached the fourth place, but qualified for the Andra Chansen, a "second -chance round " in which she, however, was eliminated. In 2012 she returned to Melodifestivalen, this time with Thomas G: son and Peter Boström composed and texted song Euphoria. The choreography of their performance plays with dance elements from the Brazilian martial art form Capoeira. In the first semifinal on 4th February Loreen sat with about 160,000 calls through against their competition and qualified directly for the finals on 10 March in Stockholm. Political motivation

Ahead of the Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 Loreen internationally caused a stir by publicly commented on the situation of human rights in the host country Azerbaijan and met with opposition in the country.
