Loren E. Wheeler

Loren Edgar Wheeler ( born October 7, 1862 in Havana, Mason County, Illinois, † January 8, 1932 in Springfield, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1915 and 1927 he represented two times the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Loren Wheeler attended the public schools of his home and then the Graylock Institute in South Williamstown (Massachusetts ). In 1880 he moved to Springfield, Illinois, where he worked until 1910 in the coal business. He also acted with Ice. Since 1910 he worked in the advertising industry. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In 1895 to 1897 he sat in the council of Springfield; 1897 to 1901 he was mayor of that city. In June 1900 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia in part, was nominated to the President William McKinley for re-election. After that, he was 1901-1913 postmaster in Springfield.

In the congressional elections of 1914, Wheeler was in the 21st electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James McMahon Graham on March 4, 1915. After three re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1923 four legislative sessions. In this time of the First World War fell.
