Lorenz Funk

Lorenz Funk ( born March 17, 1947 in Bad Tolz ) is a former ice hockey player and later worked as a hockey manager, coach and sporting director. He is a member of the Hall of Fame of Germany.

Career

Player

His playing career began at EC Bad Tölz, with which he in 1966 his first German Championship title. In 1972 he moved to Berlin SC, with whom he again 1976 German champion in 1974 and. In 1982 he joined for the 1982/83 season to Bavaria for SC Riessersee before he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1983 returned to Berlin for BSC Preussen.

In 1986, he finished his career in Berlin officially. 1988/89 he went back on the ice around with his two sons Florian " Flocko " and Lorenz radio in a row in the 2nd Bundesliga 1989/90 to play at the EC Bad Tölz. At the age of 56, he arrived at the club in the Regionalliga Berlin Capitals 2002/ 03 again for a game back on the ice.

Overall radio played throughout his career 687 Bundesliga games. He scored 435 goals and 881 points scorer. In the season 1967/68 he was top scorer in the league.

The national ice hockey team for which he played a total of 225 games, he took part in the Olympic Winter Games in 1968 and 1972. He was also at the Winter Games of 1976 on the team with which he won the bronze medal. He also participated in 1966-1979 in 13 Hockey World Cups.

Coach

In 1986, Lorenz radio as coach at BSC Preussen Berlin, which he managed to promotion back to the Bundesliga. In 1988 he took over as coach at EC Bad Tolz, before he was coach at SV Bayreuth for the 1990/91 season.

Manager / Director of Sport

In 1991 he moved to Berlin at the Berlin Polar Bears, where he remained until 2000. In 2000 he moved to Berlin Capitals first as sports director before the President took office at the club until 2004.

Lorenz radio was 1990, the Federal Cross of Merit. Today he lives with his wife Marlene together in Greiling and devotes his spare time to the breeding of pigeons.
