Lorenzo Nina

Lorenzo Nina ( born May 12, 1812 in Recanati, Italy Papal States today, † July 25, 1885 in Rome) was Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Biography

Nina was born in Recanati, in the Marche region. With 22 years Nina received priestly ordination in 1835. On March 12, 1877, he was called by Pope Pius IX. recorded as the cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Sant'Angelo in Pescheria in the College of Cardinals. In the same year, on 19 October, he was prefect of studies of the Roman Curia. On 9 August 1878, he took over the office of Cardinal Secretary of State, which he held until 1880. Pope Leo XIII. appointed Nina on February 28, 1879 cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria in Trastevere. November 7, 1881 Nina held until his death in the office of prefect of the conciliar Congregation of the Roman Curia.
