Lorenzo Olarte Cullen

Lorenzo Olarte Cullen ( born 1933 ) was from 1989 to 1991 President of the Government of the Canary Islands, an autonomous community of Spain.

Lorenzo Olarte is a lawyer. 1974 began his political career as President of the Government of Gran Canaria. In 1992 he founded the Centro Canario Independiente (CCI ), which later became the Centro Canario Nacionalista (CCN). This later formed together with other parties, the Coalition Canaria CC. Under Fernando Fernández Martín was Olarte 1987 Vice President of the Canary Islands Government. In 1988 Olarte the post of Minister of Canary 1988 until 1991.

From 1995 to 1999 Olarte was again Vice President, this time under Manuel Antonio Hermoso Rojas. After that Olarte withdrew from politics. He stated to take care of his family and his law practice. Mid-2006, he brought back with discussions in the regional politics.
