Lorenzo Sabine

Lorenzo Sabine ( born February 28, 1803 in Lisbon, Grafton County, New Hampshire, † April 14, 1877 in Roxbury, Massachusetts ) was an American politician. In the years 1852 and 1853, he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1811 Lorenzo Sabine moved with his parents to Boston in Massachusetts. Three years later the family moved to Hampden in present-day Maine continue. Sabine attended the public schools of his respective home. At the age of 18 years Sabine moved to Eastport in Maine. There he worked as an employee and trade. In addition, he edited the newspaper " Eastport Sentinel". At the same time he embarked on a political career. In the years 1833 and 1834 Sabine sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Maine. From 1841 to 1843 he was Deputy Commissioner of Customs in Eastport. Since 1848 he lived in Framingham (Massachusetts), where he served as a criminal court judge.

Politically, Sabine was a member of the Whig party. After the death of Congressman Benjamin Thompson he was in the overdue election for the fourth seat from Massachusetts as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 13 December 1852. Since he gave up for re-election, he could only finish the current legislative periods in Congress until March 3, 1853.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Lorenzo Sabine moved to Roxbury. In the following years he worked as a secretary for the Trade Commission of the city of Boston and the U.S. Treasury. He died on 14 April 1877 in Roxbury.
