Loreto is a municipality (municipality ) in the east of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. The municipality has 16,738 inhabitants ( 2010 census ). Capital is the same Loreto. The municipality was formed in 1992 from parts of the municipality Comondú.

The municipality of Loreto borders the Municipalities Mulege and Comondú and the Gulf of California.
