Lori-Ann Muenzer

Muenzer, who won 13 Canadian Championship titles in the course of her career, came just before the world leaders when it was already over 30 years old. In 2000, she won the silver medal in the sprint track at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester. The following year, 500 -meter time trial and bronze came at the World Championships in Antwerp in silver added in the railway Sprint. At the 2002 Commonwealth Games, which were held again in Manchester, Muenzer was second in the track sprint and third in the 500 -meter time trial. Another World Cup bronze medal in the sprint track she won in Melbourne in 2004.

The biggest success of her career was winning the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. This success was rather surprising, since she was older by at least seven years as all other participants who had qualified for the final. Four days earlier, she had become Seventh in the 500 -meter time trial. In 2006 she announced her departure from the top-level sport.

Today Muenzer lives in Edmonton. She founded the company Pure Momentum, which offers services in public relations. In 2007, she published her autobiography under the title One Gear, No Breaks ( ISBN 1-55263-883-9 ).
