Loris Ohannes Chobanian

Loris ( Ohannes ) Chobanian ( born April 17, 1933, Mosul ) is an American composer, conductor, guitarist and music teacher of Armenian descent.

Chobanian was introduced by his father, an amateur music in classical music. In the 1950s, he appeared as a guitarist on TV in Baghdad. In 1960 he moved to the USA and also appeared here on television. Since 1970 he worked as professor of composition and guitar and Composer in Residence at Baldwin - Wallace College in Cleveland. In 1973 he became head of the guitar department of the American String Teachers' Association.

In addition to orchestral works composed Chobanian chamber music, choral works and pieces for his own instrument, the guitar. In several works reflecting the genocide of the Armenians in the early 20th century.
