Lormes

Lormes is a commune with 1382 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nièvre in the Burgundy region. It belongs to the district Clamecy and Canton Lormes.

History

The place was called a few decades ago Delorme; he took the name back to the elm (Fr. l' orme ). He lay on the Roman road from Autun to Orléans, the remains of a Roman villa are present, and yet its origin is dated to the 5th century. In a document from the year 1085, the settlement is referred to as Lorma. The first lord of Delorme is Séguin, Seguinus from Ulmo, who lived towards the end of the 11th century.
