Lorne Chabot

Lorne Chabot ( born October 5, 1900 in Montreal, Quebec, † October 10, 1946 ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goalie who from 1926 to 1937 for the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Maroons and the New York Americans played in the National Hockey League.

Career

On him the introduction of the " blocker " to protect the floor heading down, with whom he protected his broken arm, even before his career in the NHL began. Conn Smythe got him when he was a team for the New York Rangers put together after the foundation. There, the manager Chabotsky called him win more Jewish audience. After an eye injury you dropped it in New York and sent him to Toronto Smythe afterwards. The special feature of this injury was that Chabot was hit in the second final match of Nels Stewart and could not continue playing. Since the Rangers had no operational reserve keeper, took over the manager, Lester Patrick, the job and brought the Rangers to victory. In 1932 he won his second Stanley Cup in Toronto. Directly involved Chabot was also the longest overtime of an NHL history in the 1935/36 season. He conceded the goal that ended the game.
