Lorne Michaels

Lorne Michaels ( born November 17, 1944 in Toronto, Ontario as Lorne David Lipowitz ) is a Canadian- American film producer and screenwriter.

Biography

Lorne Michaels was born Lorne David Lipowitz, son of Florence Becker and Henry Abraham Lipowitz, in Toronto. He has a younger sister and had a younger brother, who died of a brain tumor. He attended Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, studied at University College Toronto and the University of Toronto, where in 1966 he earned a degree in English. Before he moved to Los Angeles in 1968, Michael worked for two years at the radio station CBC Radio. After he as an author for Laugh- In and The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show worked with Hart Pomerantz had his own show, The Hart and Lorne Terrific Hour, he founded in 1975 together with Dick Ebersol NBC's Saturday Night, which from 1977 under the name of Saturday Night Live is running.
