Los-Angeles-Marathon

The Los Angeles Marathon is one of the largest marathons in the world and takes place in Los Angeles ( California ) since 1986. He was inspired by the marathon of the 1984 Summer Olympics, which were held in Los Angeles.

2009 exception, not the event was held in March, but in May.

Route

The route, which is introduced with the 2007 begins on Cahuenga Boulevard near Universal Studios and initially follows the course of the Hollywood Freeway, then leads down Hollywood Boulevard to the intersection with Vine Street, where the building of the Capitol Records is, then turns south and crosses Hancock Park and Wilshire Boulevard. The Santa Monica Freeway, crossing leads to South Los Angeles, then turns eastward and crosses the Exposition Park, which lies south of the University of Southern California, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. About the Figueroa Street, I will return to the north to the Staples Center. There will be one last loop that goes east to the mouth of the Santa Monica Freeway in the Santa Ana Freeway, before reaching the destination on the Flower Street near the U.S. Bank Tower.

A peculiarity of this marathon since 2004 has been the "Challenge ", in which the female elite starts with a projection corresponding to the difference of the track records of both men and women. Who comes first from the men or women in the target, receives a special prize.
