Los Angeles Open (tennis)

The ATP tournament in Los Angeles ( officially Farmers Classic, 2009 LA Tennis Open, from 2006 to 2008 Countrywide Classic, 1998-2005 Mercedes -Benz Cup, 1995-1997 Infiniti Open, before Los Angeles Open and Pacific Southwest Championships ) is a former hard court tennis tournament in Los Angeles, which took place each end of July / beginning of August. It was both part of the ATP World Tour 250 and the U.S. Open Series, a series of hard court tournaments in North America that are considered preparation for the U.S. Open.

The tournament was founded in 1927 and is one of the oldest tennis tournament in the United States. It has long been the oldest continuously held sporting event in Los Angeles. Record title holder in the individual are Andre Agassi, Jimmy Connors, Roy Emerson, and Frank Parker, who won the tournament four times each; in double the brothers Bob and Mike Bryan were even six times triumph. The end of 2012 it was announced that the tournament would be sold rights to Bogota in Colombia and is the tournament so that as of 2013 no longer discharged and set after 80 years.

The tournament was held in Straus Stadium on the campus of the University of California.
