Los Cancajos

Los Cancajos (or Playa de Los Cancajos ) is the second largest resort on the Canary island of La Palma. It is one of 635 permanent residents ( 2011).
Location
Los Cancajos is located on the territory of the municipality Brena Baja. It is located on the east side of La Palma, between the capital Santa Cruz de La Palma and Santa Cruz de La Palma International Airport.
History
In the early 1980s there was no indication that at the inhospitable coast at a disused Saline a resort should arise. Today are located in Los Cancajos about 2000 of the total of 7500 guest beds on La Palma. More 2600 beds have already been approved in development plans (as of 2006).
Townscape
According to the rapid emergence of Los Cancajos there is no growing center. Most likely takes over this function, a larger apartment complex, shopping center, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotels and apartment complexes line the coast together. Some plants are located in the "second row ", only one hotel and the above apartment complex located directly on the beach. Along the sea promenade with palm trees and other plants has been created.
Beaches
Los Cancajos has two black sandy, gently sloping towards the sea bays of about 200 and 100 meters in length. They were artificially created, so breakwater had to be mounted in front of the coast. Therefore, the beaches of Los Cancajos are also commonly used by the local dive centers divers safely to their lead in the partially turbulent Atlantic. The basins within the breakwater are a perfect area for the novice divers and snorkellers, as they are a protected nursery for the local underwater fauna simultaneously. Two children's pool are also separated from the main pool and also allow the little ones a bath in the Atlantic. The bathing on the beach all year round guarded in several places by lifeguards. Changing rooms, rental chairs and fresh water showers.
Access to the beach is designed wheelchair accessible with ramps on the beach provide wide boardwalks for easy transportation. In the sanctuary, a special beach wheelchair be rented with wide balloon tires.
