Los Olivos (pronounced loʊs oʊlivəs ) is an Unincorporated Place in Santa Barbara County in California. About 1,000 people live in the settlement and its vicinity. Los Olivos is one of the five settlements in the Santa Ynez Valley.

History

In the early 1880 a two-story house with a porch was built north of the village on Alamo Pintado Creek Ballard. A native of Albany Alden March Boyd bought the house including 157 acre land around the house for $ 8,000. He planted on the land acquired 5,000 olive trees and named the settlement Rancho de los Olivos. The place was near scrim after this ranch first, then finally called El Olivar El Olivos Los Olivos. 1934, the narrow-gauge railway has ceased operations.

Economy

In Los Olivos, there are many wineries. In addition, is the southern starting point of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail.

In the movie Return to Mayberry Los Olivos was the setting for the fictional town of Mayberry. Furthermore, various scenes of the movie Sideways was filmed in the place. Also in an episode of the soap opera California communities came before Los Olivos.
