Losenstein

Loose Stone is a municipality with 1621 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Upper Austria in the district of Steyr-Land. The church was originally part of the judicial district Weyer, since 1 January 2014, the community is part of the judicial district of Steyr.

Geography

Loose stone is located in Upper Austria Traun quarter. The expansion is 8.1 kilometers from north to south. The west to east for 4.5 km. 45.9 % of the area is forested, 39.7% used for agriculture.

Loose stone borders the municipalities Laussa, Reichraming and Tern mountain.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. During this time the castle Loose stone was built. Culture and sights

Loose stone castle ruins: 12th century; one of the largest and oldest castle ruins of Upper Austria. The standing in the center of the village, the ruins of rocks serves furthermore as a climbing area ( " Castle Rock" ), as well as a viewing platform.
