Districts

  • Losser ( as the seat of local government )
  • Beuningen (not to be confused with Beuningen near Nijmegen )
  • De Lutte
  • Glane
  • Overdinkel

Economy and Tourism

The residents of the community live from tourism or agriculture, but there are also many commuters who work in the surrounding towns.

The border village of De Lutte consists almost entirely of restaurants, campsites and small hotels. It has an arboretum ( Poort tussocks ). The spelled flows here in the spring pretty wild, through the sand dunes and forest area Lutterzand.

In 2003, the Westphalian State Garden Show ( LAGA) was held in Losser, while in Gronau. The large deficit from this event resulted in Losser to a crisis in the municipal council. Some beautiful buildings and facilities at the border, at the Franciscan Monastery Bardel, which is 1 km across the border, remained intact. The Catholic parish Lossers since then has been on very friendly terms with this monastery.

In the tiny village Glane is a monastery with a major church of the Syrian Orthodox Church. After the death of Archbishop Çiçek many thousands of mourners came on 5 November 2005 after Glane to his funeral.
