Ehm. natural lake, converted into reservoir
The Lossivatnet (also Losivatn ) is a lake in the municipality of Narvik in Nordland in Norway.
The lake covers an area of 6.64 km ² and its natural outflow via the Elvegårdselva ( Skjoma ) in the Skjomen, a part of the Ofotfjords. It thus belongs to the watershed Elvegårdselva ( Skjoma ) with the number 738 ( number in Vassdragsregister (Norwegian Directory of watercourses ) ). Its two main tributaries come from the valleys Nihkevági and Rienatvági. In Rienatvági there are some unnamed glaciers and ice fields.
The former natural lake is now used as a reservoir, with no dam built, but the lake was tapped. The lake can be lowered from the original altitude of 735 meters above sea level to 701. A large part of its water now flows over the Kraftstasjon Kobbvatn and Iptovatn to the hydroelectric power plant Skjomen.
