Reception

The single ( You Want to) Make a Memory in Germany rose to number 5 of the singles charts. In the U.S., it reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100

After Slippery When Wet (1986) and New Jersey ( 1988) managed Bon Jovi in the U.S. back to the top of the album charts. The album sold in its first week over 292,000 times, which is a new record for Bon Jovi. In Japan abolished the album went straight to number 1 As at 31 October 2008, the album sold 3.755 million times worldwide.

Even the critics, both nationally and internationally, expressed mostly positive about the style extension of the band. For example, Frank Albrecht wrote in Rock Hard magazine: " The somewhat zackigere roadmap of the last two longplayer hold on Bon Jovi Lost Highway is not as boring can be the tenth studio album of the New Jersey rockers still hardly call. Okay, maybe you have added to the overall package a little too much fabric softener, but for a Bon Jovi allowed that, and on the other hand is rocking this thing in places, still very neat. These have Bon Jovi naturally be the inevitable ballads on offer, but on the other hand also occasionally play with a couple of Country & Western elements or move in the singer / songwriter profession. One-dimensional Lost Highway is therefore by no means. However, what is missing is an overheating of the brand It's My Life or Have a Nice Day. The biggest earworm potential should Summertime, I Love This Town have, at the same time two of the absolute highlights of this fundamentally sound board. " He forgave seven out of ten possible points.
