According to the United States Census Bureau, Lost Springs is one of four places in the U.S. with a population of only one person - the other places are Hibbert's Gore in Maine, Erving 's Location, New Hampshire and New Amsterdam in Indiana. Was founded the place in 1880, the name comes from railroad workers, the vain, the drawn cards in their source studied here. In its heyday about 200 people lived here, most were employed coal mine in nearby Rosin. After the mine was closed in 1930, the population declined steadily. In 1960, there were only 5 people.

Geography

Lost Springs is located in the High Plains (United States ) near the US-18/US-20 about 35 kilometers east of Douglas in the east of the country on the edge of Niobrara County. It is located 304 km north of Denver and 625 kilometers northeast of Salt Lake City. The area is 0.2 km ².
