Lotarev D-36

The Ivchenko Progress D -36 (also called Lotarjow D- 36) is a three-shaft turbofan engine with high bypass ratio of the Ukrainian producer Ivchenko (English Ivchenko Progress).

The development of this intended for the Yak-42, An-72 and An-74 (then for the time and Russian standards very progressive ) engine began in the early 1970s under the leadership of Vladimir Lotarjow. First test runs started in 1971, first flight tests followed in 1974. Serial production began in 1977.
