Lothar Kurbjuweit

Lothar Kurbjuweit ( born November 6, 1950 in Seerhausen ) is a former German football player and current football coach. In his career he played for the BSG Stahl Riesa, FC Carl Zeiss Jena and Halle FC chemistry in the GDR Oberliga. He is 66 -fold GDR national team.

Career

As a player

Lothar Kurbjuweit played at the beginning of his career from 1959 in Seerhausen in the BSG Traktor under coach Heinz Ebermannsdorf. While still a student, he moved in 1965 to the nearby BSG Stahl Riesa. In 1967, he finally played his first of 18 junior internationals. As Riesa in 1968 rose to the highest DDR - Oberliga class football, he played already as a 17 -year-old his first top-flight. At age 19, he was on 16 May 1970 the first time in the senior team in the encounter Poland - East Germany (1-1) used on the position of the left central defender. At the same time, he joined in a job training from an apprenticeship as a fitter and a high school.

Coach Georg Buschner, who was also coach of the triple GDR soccer champion FC Carl Zeiss Jena, thought highly of the 1.80 -meter defender and prompted the change Kurbjuweits at the beginning of the 1970/71 season to Jena. Until then Kurbjuweit had played 35 league games for Riesa. He could win with Jena no more championship titles, but caught up in the years 1972, 1974 and 1980 with his team the GDR football trophy, was every time in the final squad.

As coach

In the summer of 1984 Kurbjuweit, who had been trained as a certified physical education teacher began his career as a football coach. He stayed in Jena and was first assistant coach of the second team of FC Carl Zeiss. On October 4, 1984, he broke Dietmar Pfeifer from as head coach of the league team and could still improve the team of 11 place to number 7 to the end of the season. Apart from 3rd place in the following season could Kurbjuweit FC Carl Zeiss not decisively advance, so he in turn was sacked after the first round of the 1989/90 season. Private

Lothar Kurbjuweit married in 1980, the then Jena long jumper Birgit Grimm. After German reunification, he built up a new professional existence and in 1992 was managing partner of a car dealership in Jena Göschwitz. His son Tobias was also football players, started in Jena and then played among others at FC St. Pauli and 1 FC Magdeburg.
