Lotte, Germany

Lotte ( Low German Luote ) is a municipality in the region Tecklenburger Land ( district of Steinfurt ) in the state of North Rhine -Westphalia. About the Regional Municipality is mainly known by the motorway junction Lotte / Osnabrück and the football division side Sportfreunde Lotte. It was formed on 1 January 1975 from the previously independent municipalities Lotte and Wersen. Lotte was first documented in the 13th century. Lotte heard as surrounding municipality of the city of Osnabrück to their metropolitan area.

Geography

The place is right on the border with Lower Saxony and is a surrounding community of the city of Osnabrück.

The municipality is bordered to the north and east of the city and the district of Osnabrück, in the south on the town Tecklenburg and in the west on the community Westerkappeln.

Local Elections 2009

The municipal election was held on August 30, 2009. Were elected to the district, the district council, the mayor and the municipal council. The turnout was 44.0 %.

Mayor

Mayor of Lotte since 2004 Rainer Lammers (SPD). He was re-elected mayor in the 2009 election directly by an absolute majority of 84.7 % on the first ballot. An opposing candidate did not exist.

The diagonal wave bar indicates the Düte. The toppled anchor comes from the coat of arms of the sovereign Vogts (gender of Harde ), who lived in the 16th century in Lotte. The lily pad symbolizes the membership of the Tecklenburger country.

Wersen

Community partnership

It was founded in 1991, a partnership with the French Lys -lez- Lannoy. This is a neighboring town of Roubaix in northern France. Currently mainly club representatives from both communities attend ( particularly the painters and motorcyclists active there ) as well as community representatives in alternate years. On 20-21. June 2009 addressed Lotte least from the (now 18 ) Partnership ceremony.

Evangelical Church Lotte

The evangelical church is a typical monument of the Gothic village of Munster country. It was built in 1312-1315. Main features of the church building are

  • Domikalgewölbe with two side niches on the west side
  • Stikisierte crown of thorns as a round window
  • Early Gothic hall square with Art Nouveau windows in the south wall
  • Baroque organ case from 1684
  • Flemish candlesticks from 1777

A special feature is the oblique, inclined to the west tower, curious is an imprint of a hand with six fingers in a pillar of the north wall.

East side

History / personalities

The later bishop of the Evangelical Church of Hesse -Nassau, Pastor Martin Niemöller family comes from (the present Lotter district ) Wersen. Pastor Martin Niemoller lived in the period after the First World War in Wersen and was also buried there. After he initially had a very German - loyal to the emperor setting, he fell into the era of National Socialism in the resistance and was active there in the " Confessing Church ".

At the intersection of KBS 375 with the road L597 is the former station Lotte. However, since the early 1990s stop here no more moves. Other secondary schools are available in neighboring communities Westerkappeln, Mettingen, Tecklenburg and Osnabrück.

For the older generation are numerous meeting places, a service residential assisted living facility and nursing home in " Two oaks " are available.

Youth centers in Old Lotte and Wersen offer extensive options in the youth work.

The local library is distributed in three localities in Wersen, Lotte and Buren.
