The Lotus E20 was the Formula 1 racing cars of the Lotus F1 team for the 2012 Formula 1 season, it was the twentieth racing car, which was built in the factory in Enstone. ; from the name E20 deduced. The Lotus E20 was also the third race car of the team, since it is owned by Genii Capital. The engine of the vehicle yielded Renault. The Lotus E20 was introduced on February 5, 2012 at the team site.
Technology and Development
The Lotus E20 was the successor to the Renault R31. An unusual event of the car were bumps in the front suspension. The Lotus E20 was developed under the guidance of technical director James Allison.
The transmission was a lotus own construction, fuel and lubricants supplied total. The engine was 750 hp ( 552 kW) strong and came from Renault. The KERS developed Renault Sport F1 and Magneti Marelli. The tires made ready as with all other teams Pirelli.
Paint and sponsorship
The Lotus E20 was - like all 2012 by Lotus Cars factory- supported cars - painted in black and gold. This painting reminded of the John Player Team Lotus, with the Mario Andretti won the Formula 1 World Championship in the 1970s. Driver
2012 joined the team with two new pilots. Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean returned to the Formula 1. Both were most recently been involved in Formula 1 2009.
