Lou Carnesecca

Louis P. Carnesecca ( ​​born January 5, 1925 in Manhattan, New York ) is a retired American basketball coach. Between 1957 and 1992 he coached the basketball team Redmen of St. John's University in New York, which were later renamed the Red Storm. This time, however, was interrupted from 1970 to 1973, as the New York Nets Carnesecca, who today call themselves New Jersey Nets, trained in the U.S. professional league American Basketball Association ( ABA). Carneseccas biggest success was winning the NIT championship in 1989. His overall record is 526-200 as a college coach, as ABA coach 114-138. On 11 May 1992 Carnesecca was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. 2004, the home ground of the Red Storm was renamed Lou Carnesecca Arena.
