Lou Zocchi

Joseph Louis " Lou" Zocchi (* 1940 *) is an American cube designer.

Life

He was a technical sergeant in the United States Air Force. Shortly before his retirement he founded in Biloxi (Mississippi) the company Zocchi Games, which was later renamed GameScience. There he invented several exotic places dice. His main focus was on the perfection conventional cube, so that the probability distribution should be as ideal. Rounded corners that improve accuracy at the expense of the rolling properties, rejects Zocchi.

He became known through this quality dice, it is primarily through his creative cube structures. He invented for real five-page (W5 ), seven-page ( W7 ) and nine -sided ( W9 ) cubes. His most famous creation is the genuine hundred -sided dice ( W100 ), which is also called after him Zocchihedron. He presented before 1985. A more recent development (together with Alexander Simkin ) is the 24-page "D- Total" ( " Dime - Total" ), which replaces 18 cubes using multiple labeling, including D2 ( = W2), W3, W4, W5, W7, W8, W10, W12, W20 and W24.

Meanwhile, Zocchi has retired from active business.
