Louhans

Louhans with 6551 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) the capital of the Burgundian Bresse and is located in the department of Saône -et -Loire in the Burgundy region. It belongs to "The most beautiful detours of France ", which belong to 88 locations across the country.

Location

Louhans located in the south of Burgundy. The city is the center of the Bresse Louhannaise and lies at the confluence of the rivers seille, Vallière and Solnan. To the north are the towns of Dijon and Beaune, south-west of Tournus, Cluny and Mâcon, in the east Louhans borders already in the Franche -Comté.

Attractions

The town has retained much of its former charm, especially through the arcades of the 157 " Grand Rue ", its old houses from the 15th century and the old hospital from 1682 (Hôtel -Dieu ) with the old pharmacy, as well as its parish church, with the colorful bricks.

Every Monday will find the famous cattle, pig and poultry markets taking place, especially of course for the Bresse chicken.

Twinning

It is twinned with the German community Kirchheimbolanden in the Palatinate. Partner school is the Gymnasium Ochsenhausen.
