Louis Boutet de Monvel

Boutet de Monvel Louis ( born June 22, 1941) is a French mathematician who deals with functional analysis.

Boutet de Monvel studied from 1960 at the Ecole Normale Superieure. He earned his doctorate at Laurent Schwartz in Paris and is a professor at the University of Paris VI Pierre and Marie Curie.

Boutet de Monvel developed an algebra of pseudo-differential operators in boundary value problems on manifolds with edges, respectively. He also dealt with Toeplitz operators, the symbolic calculus similar to possess ( a special case of C * - algebra) of pseudo-differential operators. They have application in the Deformierungs quantization, which was also investigated by Monvel ( his book " Toeplitz operators and deformation algebras " in 2009 in preparation).

In 2007 he received the Émile Picard Medal of the French Academy of Sciences in 2003 and the Prix fondé par l' État. In 1970 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Nice ( Une algèbre associées aux aux limites problèmes elliptiques ).
