Louis Daquin

Louis Daquin (* May 30, 1908 in Calais, † October 2, 1980 in Paris) was a French film director and screenwriter.

Life

After studying law Louis Daquin came in 1932 for the film and worked as an assistant to directors like Fedor Ozep, Pierre Chenal and Jean Grémillon. In 1938, he was responsible for the dialogue director of The Players. From 1941 he directed and manifested itself with socially critical films his political engagement as an avowed socialist. In almost all of his films, he also wrote the screenplay. Because of its setting Lacombe took only a few directed orders and was forced, among other things, to work in Romania and the GDR. Daquin also wrote film theory books and worked for several years as a lecturer at the Film School IDHEC.
