Louis de Froment

Louis de Froment ( born December 5, 1921 in Toulouse, † August 19, 1994 in Cannes) was a French conductor.

De Froment studied violin, flute and harmony at the conservatory in his hometown before he student of Louis Fourestier, Eugène Bigot and André Cluytens was at the Conservatoire de Paris. After completing his studies in 1948 he founded the Orchestre du Club d' essay in the French television. At the same time, he toured with its own orchestra and the flutist Jean -Pierre Rampal through Europe.

By 1956, he was musical director of the casinos of Cannes and Deauville. He conducted at the Opéra -Comique and was from 1958 to 1959 chief conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Radio Nice. From 1958 to 1980 he was chief conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Radio Luxembourg, then its Principal Guest Conductor.

In the 1950s, de Froment took the L' Oiseau -Lyre Orchestra Ensemble primarily works by composers of the 17th and 18th century, moreover, Frank Martin's Harpsichord Concerto with Isabelle Nef and Jean Françaix ' Invocation à la volupté. With the Radio Orchestra of Radio Luxembourg, he played mainly works by French and German composers of the 19th and early 20th century, including the complete orchestral works of Claude Debussy, who works for piano and orchestra by Camille Saint- Saëns with Gabriel Tacchino, as well as contemporary compositions Marcel Landowskis Les Adieux, Charles Chaynes Four Illustrations and its Trumpet Concerto ( with Maurice André ).
