Louis Edward Gelineau

Louis Edward Gelineau ( May 3, 1928 in Burlington ) is Bishop Emeritus of Providence.

Life

Louis Edward Gelineau received on 5 June 1953, the ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of Burlington.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on December 6, 1971 for the Bishop of Providence. The Bishop of Burlington, Robert Francis Joyce, consecrated him on January 26 of next year to the bishop; Co-consecrators were Bernard Joseph Flanagan, Bishop of Worcester, and Edward Cornelius O'Leary, Auxiliary Bishop of Portland.

From his office he resigned on 11 June 1997.
