Louis Ehlert

Louis Ehlert (* January 23, 1825 in Königsberg, † January 4, 1884 in Wiesbaden ) was a German composer and music critic.

Life

Ehlert studied from 1845 at the Leipzig Conservatory with Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. Since 1850 he lived in Berlin, where he became a teacher at the school founded by Carl Tausig the higher piano game. Later he worked as a teacher in Meiningen and finally in Wiesbaden.

He composed a spring symphony, an overture, a requiem for a child and numerous piano pieces, choral works and songs.
