Louis Eugène Roy

Louis Eugène Roy (* 1861, † October 27, 1939 in Port -au -Prince ) was a Haitian politician and President of Haiti.

Biography

Roy was an influential and well-known banker and president of the National Girozentrale ( National Clearinghouse ). On May 15, 1930, he was the commander of the U.S. occupying power and High Commissioner in Haiti, who later became commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, Major General John H. Russell, Jr., chosen to be the successor of Louis Borno to the interim president of Haiti. As such, he promised the holding of presidential elections in the National Assembly, which were held in accordance with his promises on 14 October 1930.

On November 18, 1930, he handed over the presidency to the winner of the presidential elections, Sténio Vincent.
