Louis Godin

Louis Godin ( born February 28, 1704 Paris, † September 11, 1760 in Cadiz ) was a French astronomer.

Godin was with Charles Marie de La Condamine and Pierre Bouguer participants in the Peru expedition in 1735 to determine the length of an arc of the meridian near the equator ( see degree measurement). He was a member of the Académie des sciences.

His nephew was the cartographer Jean Godin of Odonais ( 1713-1792 ).

The lunar crater Godin is named after him.
