Louis-Lucien Klotz

Louis -Lucien Klotz ( born January 11, 1868 in Paris, † June 15, 1930 in Paris) was a French journalist and politician.

Klotz was of Jewish origin with roots in Alsace. First lawyer in Paris in 1888, he founded the magazine La Vie Franco - Russian, to promote a Franco- Russian alliance. In 1892 he was editor in chief of Voltaire and advocated against the policy of Jules Ferry. In 1895 he founded Le Français quotidien, a patriotic journal in which rose the Voltaire.

During the general elections of 1898 Klotz was elected a deputy in the National Assembly, associated with the radical socialists. He remained a deputy until 1925 and was then Senator ( and 1928 ). During his time deputies he had several important ministerial posts: He was several times Interior Minister and Finance Minister. In 1917, he entered in his capacity as Minister of Finance in the negotiations on German reparations under the infamous motto " Le Boche paiera! » ( " The Boche will pay! ").

1929 Klotz was sentenced to two years in prison for check fraud, but died a year later.
