Louis Marie Alphonse Depuiset

Alphonse Depuiset, actually Louis Marie Alphonse Depuiset, ( born September 20, 1822 in Autry, Ardennes department, † March 17, 1886 in Paris) was a French entomologist.

Life

Depuiset was the son of a taxidermist, and by this he also got his first teaching science. Was initially the interest generally to the Entomology, he soon specialized in butterflies ( Lepidoptera).

In 1840 came Depuiset to Paris. He remained in the city, and in 1850 he earned his living as an insect dealer. It supported him friends, such as the naturalist Jean Baptiste Alphonse Dechauffour de Boisduval.
